What Does a 3-Year Business Administration Degree Look Like?

Business Administration programmes in Malaysia usually take around 3 years. They move from business foundations to core business functions, and then to strategy and real-world experience.

The exact curriculum varies by university, but a typical journey may look like this:

Year 1: Business Foundations

Students build a broad understanding of how organisations work. Subjects may include Principles of Management, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Financial Accounting, Principles of Marketing, Business Mathematics and Statistics, and Business Communication.

Year 2: Core Business Functions

The programme focuses on the key areas every business depends on. Students may study Corporate Finance, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, Organisational Behaviour, Business Law, Management Information Systems and Research Methods. Many students choose their specialisation or major at this stage.

Year 3: Strategy, Specialisation and Industry Experience

The final year brings everything together. Students may take Strategic Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics and specialisation electives. Many programmes include an industrial training or internship placement and a final-year project, which give students real workplace experience before they graduate.

This is a general example of how a 3-year Business Administration degree may be structured. Subjects, internships and the timing of each component vary by university.
